About us
Sport and recreation are important parts of people’s lives in Aotearoa New Zealand. We have some of the highest participation rates in the world, and a global reputation for fairness and integrity. At the same time, in recent years, integrity issues have come to light illustrating that more needs to be done to ensure that everyone can enjoy and expect safe and fair sport and recreation experiences.

This work is led by the Integrity in Sport and Recreation Establishment Board and undertaken by the Integrity Transition Programme Team.

At the heart of our work are the voices of participants including athletes, officials, parents and rangatahi, and people who work and volunteer in sport and recreation.
Our background
In 2020, Sport New Zealand established the Play, Active Recreation and Sport Integrity Working Group (IWG) to consider approaches for the future of Aotearoa New Zealand’s integrity landscape.
